I loved working with Rachel Cooley. She did all the illustrations for my filmmaking book called "Shooting the Scene: The Art and Craft of Coverage for Directors and Filmmakers". I needed ways to illustrate various techniques and rules of camera coverage. Storyboard-like illustrations were the best way to accomplish that. Rachel was very enthusiastic and knowledgable. She was able to take my written descriptions, and sometimes my very poorly hand drawn pencil sketches, and turn them into fabulous, fleshed out drawings. And anytime I needed her to make adjustments, she did them quickly and expertly. She also made some great suggestions that improved the illustrations. For instance she suggested that the people/characters in each panel be diverse in terms of gender, skin color, body types, and whether they had a physical disability or not. She also delivered several different versions of the high quality final files so they could work for the publishing company's specs. My book simply could not have been the success it is without Rachel Cooley and her wonderful illustrations.
